What do you get when you pair modern event design with a world-famous historic wedding venue? One of my favorite recent weddings that I’m so excited to share with you! This modern wedding at Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte had all the old-world charm that I am so passionate about here in France. History mixed with modern chairs, florals, entertainers, and even gold-leaf clad florals and centerpieces made for a memorable experience for all. From the flatware to the backs of the chairs, hints of gold sparkled throughout this iconic property, fit for a truly royal couple.

On a wedding day, I’m usually behind the scenes and out of the way of the cameras. On this big day, I was caught tending to some last-minute details and making sure the table settings were spaced just right. No detail is too small to align and check before guests make their entrance.

Modern white meets old-world

For the ceremony, we brought in very modern white statues to pair alongside the ancient pieces and married the old with the new.

With gardens as magnificent as these, we didn’t want to build anything too distracting for the ceremony. That’s in part why we opted for white and muted colors. But the scale was equal to the setting around it.

Cocktail hour had that same breathtaking view and a buffet worth visiting to arouse all the senses.

Before guests entered the reception, they were met by horse-drawn carriages in the courtyard. As they walked up the stairs, leading ladies draped in red gowns became part of the red rose statement pieces that framed the entrance to the party. The scale was just as grand as the building!

An intimate dinner in a grand space

Dinner was served on long curved dining tables. The modern chairs were adorned with decorative gold detailing to mimic what guests saw on the tables.

Gold accessories flanked the tables, as did gold glassware, flatware, and even gold-leaf-covered pink roses.

When dinner was over, we escorted guests outside once again. A lights and fireworks show was presented with a full orchestra!

The chateau got even more beautiful at night, thanks to our lighting team. And a fireworks display was a fantastic way to end the evening. It was just the right way to celebrate this wonderful couple and send them off as newlyweds!
