This time each year, alongside images of sparkling trees and Christmas light displays, I love seeing my Instagram feed filling up with proposals. Of course, every engagement story is beautiful in its own right. But there’s something extraordinarily romantic about a proposal in Paris, the City of Love, with a view of the Eiffel Tower. That’s why I was so excited when our wonderful client approached us to lend our help and expertise to his dream Paris proposal at the iconic Shangri-La Hotel. What started as a birthday party for his love turned into a once-in-a-lifetime surprise. With a beautifully decorated suite, the ultimate terrace view, live music, and the presence of their loved ones, it really was the perfect way to ask: “will you marry me?”
Our first task was to turn one of the Shangri-La Paris’ gorgeous modern suites into the ultimate destination for romance. We chose classic Valentine red, the color of love, as our starting point. We had red rose topiaries in huge white urns, more rose arrangements in a variety of golden vessels, and a central display of red flowers on one of the tables. There were also thousands of red rose petals scattered artfully throughout the suite. Dozens of white pillar candles created an atmosphere of warmth and welcome. With the champagne on ice, it was time for the “birthday party” to start!
Once our unsuspecting bride-to-be arrived, she and her guests were entertained by a Mariachi band since our future bride was Mexicain, who then led the couple outside for the next part of the surprise. The terrace – with one of the best views in Paris – had also been decked out in roses, petals and candles. There, while a violinist played their favorite songs, the groom-to-be asked his sweetheart to be his wife. It was a very joyful yes! The two then celebrated with family and friends, with the sparkling city as the perfect backdrop to a magical Paris proposal.
Congratulations to the happy couple from everyone here at Alejandra Poupel Events! We can’t wait for the wedding!
