Paris in all its splendor

When my clients plan a destination wedding in Paris, I always advise them to schedule activities over the weekend that will allow their guests to experience the magic of the city. After all, there’s nowhere quite like Paris!

My clients, a wonderful couple from Shanghai, China, had guests flying in from all corners of the globe. Since getting them together was difficult, they decided to have a welcome dinner, followed by their bachelor and bachelorette parties, all on the same evening. We chose the impressive Pavillon Seine boat by Potel et Chabot. This luxury boat, with its clean lines, spacious deck, and huge bay windows, has one of the best views of the city. It was the perfect venue for a welcome party!

Fun-filled, casual chic

The wedding itself was held the following day at the opulent Opera Garnier. So for the welcome party, the couple decided they wanted something relaxing, fun-filled and casual chic.

The bride and groom wanted nature and natural details to be predominant, so as to add warmth to the modern design of the boat. And of course, to allow the gorgeous backdrop of the city to be the main attraction, without any distraction!

The evening started with the welcome dinner. Potel et Chabot created an absolutely incredible dinner buffet for all our guests to nibble on. There was also a custom dim sum station to make our Chinese visitors feel at home.

A bachelor/bachelorette party with the Eiffel Tower as a backdrop

After dinner, guests were treated to some traditional French entertainment, including Moulin Rouge style can-can dancers. Older guests were then dropped off at port, and the boat was transformed into a rocking party venue!

To separate the bachelor and bachelorette parties, the event designer built a floral wall with the couple’s initials on it. On one side, the décor was more masculine for the boys, while on the other, it was more girly for the bachelorette. The DJ was in the middle, rocking the house. Our can-can dancers also did a burlesque set, which was a big hit! Guests danced and enjoyed themselves late into the night, with the Eiffel Tower as a backdrop, and the City of Lights in all its splendor.
