2023 is here!

And with it, a brand new set of 2023 wedding trends is already starting to emerge. With the dawn of this new year, I have been thinking about how much weddings have changed over the last few seasons. There were the times of COVID and micro-weddings, when travel and large gatherings were out of the question. Then there was the 2022 wedding boom, a transition away from smaller events but with a new sense of meaning and intentionality. And now we have another evolution towards celebrations filled with opulence and unforgettable moments, while also moving away from traditions that no longer serve us. So what will the next year in weddings look like? Read on for my top 2023 wedding trends!

2023 Wedding Trends European Destination Weddings

European Destination Weddings

As a Paris wedding planner who loves to create exclusive luxury experiences in locations like the South of France, Italy, and of course Paris itself, it was hard to see the drop-off in destination weddings thanks to the pandemic. After all, there is something so uniquely wonderful about destination weddings. I’m happy to say that I’m seeing a major return to destination celebrations, especially in Europe. Couples are traveling with big groups once again and looking to create the ultimate experience for their loved ones. With changes to the Euro/Dollar exchange rate, I expect to see even more European destination weddings in 2023.

Exuberant Color

With Pantone’s color of the year being a bright and beautiful pink-red, Viva Magenta, I’m happy to say that I expect to see an explosion of color at weddings this season. While some couples are still opting for white-on-white minimalism or traditional pastels, others are embracing daring palettes that speak to their personalities. Much of this will come through in statement floral displays as well as textures, patterns, and unexpected décor moments and installations.

Dramatic Bridal Fashion

As a Paris wedding planner, couture bridal fashion trends are also always on my radar, and this season, it’s all about the drama! After a few years of more simple silhouettes, designers are embracing statement designs like ballgowns with 3-D appliqué, custom-embroidered cathedral-length wedding veils and daringly high slits. Opera gloves are the accessory of the year, and we’ll also be seeing bold details like eye-grabbing prints and playful feathers. Brides are really having fun with their fashion these days, and often that means one or more outfit changes throughout the night.

Over-the-Top Parties

Along with a return to larger weddings and destination celebrations, couples are really pushing the boat out when it comes to their before and after-parties. Welcome parties are no longer small, discreet events for the family and wedding party only. Now all guests are included and couples are entertaining guests with extravagant soirees in unique locations. After parties are also gathering steam, with luxury night club vibes and stand-alone food and beverage experiences like specialty cocktails or caviar bars.

Extraordinary Backdrops

Extraordinary Backdrops

Outdoor ceremonies were a necessary shift during COVID but the last year has proven that they are here to stay! One of the biggest 2023 wedding trends I am seeing is that couples are looking for unique locations with breathtaking natural scenery where they can exchange vows.

I can’t wait to see these 2023 wedding trends come to life for my clients this year!
